Students can be very rough on substitute teachers, but this instance was uncalled for. Nedra Morris was filling in at a fourth grade classroom on Tuesday, October 10, 1995 at the Marshall Elementary School in St. Louis, Missouri and had to pass out assignments for the students to complete. One student felt it was better to draw on the paper than to complete the work. Nedra had tried to redirect the child multiple times when the 9-year-old male student began to punch her in the chest repeatedly. Nedra, 51, suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital where she died 90 minutes later. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.
