Cherilyn Hawkley, 39, a well-liked fifth grade teacher, was found Oct. 31, 1993, strangled in her minivan, located under trees near Oakhills Elementary School in Granite Bay.
The last person who saw her alive was the school custodian. He reported that she had stayed late to clean up popcorn. She had left by 6 and no one ever saw her again. Two days later, Halloween night, her van was found less than one mile away from the school. She had ben strangled and was probably killed that night.
No motive or suspect was ever found.
Cherilyn is survived by her three children.
