On January 24, 1951, Major Henry Suhre was doing his rounds to keep order at the Military Academy in Alton, Illinois, when he notice a something unusual, one of the cadets was trying to steal from the cadet store. Major Suhre tried to stop him but was shot and killed in the process. The cadet denied the shooting but was charged with murder. His classmates testified against him.
