Three buses carrying the marching band of the Andrews High School Mustangs after a playoff game were traveling in tandem near the New Mexico boarder, close to Big Springs, Texas on a dark night on Friday, November 19, 2021. When out of the darkness came a pickup on the wrong side of the road and hit the lead bus head on causing a crash and shortly after flames. The two other buses were able to stop, and thankfully, no others were hurt, but the bus driver, Marc Elbert Boswell, and band director, Darin Johns, were killed.
