Richard Lenhart, a 72 year old bus driver, loved his job. He loved driving the kiddos to and from Longfellow Elementary School like he was a personal chauffeur. The kiddos loved him equally.

On September 24, 2021, after school, Richard was picking up children when an assailant boarded his bus. Without warning, he began to stab Richard, in front of the children. Richard lost control of the bus and crashed into a hedge, but kept all the children safe. The suspect was arrested with out incident but Richard succumbed to his injuries later that day at the hospital.
