National Memorial to Fallen Educators 
Thank you. My sister Mary Alicia Shanks lost her life in a school shooting in Essex Jct VT. 8/24/2006 . She was an amazing teacher that dedicated her life to the education of others. She was kind, caring and loving. She earned this honor. Still, she would prefer to be here with her two beautiful children. She was proud of all she gave the community. This honor and recognition is indeed appreciated.
